ORIGINS NAME: Light Warriors
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Warriors of Light
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Warriors of Light

The Warriors of Light were a group of four young travelers who appeared outside the walls of Cornelia, each grasping a Crystal in their palms. They had no recollection of their life before coming to Cornelia. Their arrival was foretold in prophecy by the sage Lukahn. Their destiny was to restore the light of the four elemental Crystals by defeating the Four Fiends, who were leeching the power of the Crystals and throwing the world into upheaval. After destroying the Fiends, the Warriors of Light used the magical Lute to travel two thousand years into the past to confront the evil entity controlling the Fiends. There, in the bowels of the ancient Chaos Shrine, they enountered Garland, the corrupt knight they fought at the beginning of their journey. He used the power of the Fiends and the Crystals to travel back in time and bring the Fiends to the present, creating an unending time loop allowing him to live forever. He used the Fiends' power to transform into Chaos, the ultimate embodiment of evil. In a climactic battle, the heroes destroyed Chaos, ending the time loop and restoring peace to the world. They were then transported back to the present, with no memory of what had happened.

NAME ORIGIN
A warrior is someone who fights and participates in war. The word itself comes from the Old Northern French word werreier, meaning "to make war". Light can mean either the light given off by the sun or light as in good and holy. The word comes from the Old English word leoht.
In the original NES release and Final Fantasy Origins, the Warriors of Light were called the Light Warriors.
