The Snow Plains were a wasteland eternally frozen over by a thick blanket of snow. Enormous mountains separated the Plains from the towns of Salamand and Bafsk. Traversing the treacherous terrain of the Snow Plains on foot was nearly impossible. Long ago, the king of Kashuan hid away the mythical Goddess's Bell in the Snow Cavern, secluded far away in the eastern expanse of the Snow Plains.
The hardy explorer Josef of Salamand constructed a Snowcraft, the only vehicle capable of crossing the tundra. During their quest to recover the Goddess's Bell, Firion and his friends made use of Josef's Snowcraft to cross the hazardous Plains and reach the Snow Cavern.

GAME INFO
The entrance to the Snow Plains is found to the northwest of Salamand, and can only be crossed aboard the Snowcraft.

NAME ORIGIN
Snow is a precipitation in the form of ice crystals, formed directly from the freezing of the water vapor in the air. The word comes from the Gothic word snaiws. A plain is an area of flat land. The word comes from the Latin planum meaning "level ground".
In Final Fantasy Origins, this location was named Snowfield. A field is an expanse of open or cleared ground. The word comes from the Old English feld meaning "plain, open land".
