The Sage's Cave was a secluded cavern to the southwest of Melmond, close to the Cavern of Earth. It was in this cloistered grotto that the wise sage Sadda elected to spend his days, guarding the magical Earth Rod until the time when the Warriors of Light would arrive to restore the power of the Earth Crystal. When the heroes finally did arrive, Sadda graciously handed over the Rod and urged the heroes to restore the Crystals' light.

GAME INFO
The Sage's Cave can only be accessed after feeding the Star Ruby to the Giant in the Giant's Cave. Sadda will give the Earth Rod which is needed to travel to the bottom floors of the Cavern of Earth.

NAME ORIGIN
A sage is a person venerated for their possession of wisdom, judgment and experience. The word comes from the Latin word sapere meaning "to be wise". A cave is a hollow in the earth, especially one opening more or less horizontally into a hill or mountain. The word comes from the Latin cavus, meaning "hollow".
In the original NES release, this cave was named Sarda's Cave. Sarda was the name given to Sadda in the original Final Fantasy.
