NAME ORIGIN
Mage is an archaic term referring to a magician. The word is most famously known for the Three Magi who visited the infant Jesus in Bethlehem. The word comes from Old Persian magus meaning "sorcerer". Red Mage is an invention of Square and refers to the fact that this class uses both Black and White Magic.
