NAME ORIGIN
Phorusracos, or Phorusrhacos, was the name of a genus of giant, flightless, predatory birds that lived in Patagonia around 23 to 5 million years ago. They stood around 8 feet (2.5 meters) tall and weighed approximately 280 pounds (130 kilograms). Resembling modern day ostriches, they were also known as "Terror Birds" for being one of the largest carnivorous birds to ever exist, along with its meat hook-shaped claws on its rudimentary wings and massive beaks. The name Phorusrhacos means "rag-bearer" in Latin.
In Japanese, this enemy was named ビッグバード which translates to Big Bird in English. This may be a reference to the character Big Bird on the popular children's television series Sesame Street.
