    Neochus were hideous floral creatures with wide, gaping maws and a single eye atop the end of a tangled vine. They possessed the ability to Poison their victims. They inhabited the rivers of the northern continents of the world.

NAME ORIGIN
    Neochu is a compound of neo and ochu. Neo comes from néos, a Greek word meaning "new". Ochu derives from the Otyugh, a monster in the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. Neo-otyughs also exist in the D&D universe.
    In the original NES release, this enemy's name was mistranslated as Naocho.
