NAME ORIGIN
Mindflayers, also known as Illithid, are a race of psychic creatures with squid-like faces from the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. They are ultimately derived from the legend of the ancient god Cthulu in the horror novels of H.P. Lovecraft.
In the original NES release, this enemy was called Sorcerer. A sorcerer is a person who practices magic or sorcery, such as a wizard. The word comes from the Vulgar Latin word sortiarius.
