FINAL FANTASY I :: JOBS

PRONUNCIATION: MAS-ter
ORIGINAL JAPANESE NAME: スーパーモンク
NES NAME: Master
ORIGINS NAME: Master
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Master
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Master

    The Master was a martial arts expert and member of the Warriors of Light. His fists were his most powerful weapons, disregarding swords and staves for his bare hands. He started his journey as a simple Monk before proving his valor to Bahamut the Dragon King, who granted him the title of Master.

GAME INFO
    Master is the upgrade from the Monk job, only after giving the Rat's Tail to Bahamut. The Master can deal more physical damage without weapons, but cannot use any Black or White Magic.

ADDITIONAL INFO
    In the original Japanese NES release, as well as the MSX release, the Master's battle sprite had a different hair style. This was changed in the American release.

NAME ORIGIN
    A master is another term for a teacher of martial arts. The word comes from the Latin word magister meaning "chief, head, director, teacher".
