NAME ORIGIN
A manticore is a legendary creature of Persian origin. It is usually portrayed with the head of a man, horns, the body of a lion, wings and the tail of a dragon or scorpion. The word itself comes from the Greek word mantikhoras, a mispronunciation of the Old Iranian martiya-khvara meaning "man-eater".
