FINAL FANTASY II :: MISCELLANEOUS

PRONUNCIATION: MAJ-iks
ORIGINAL JAPANESE NAME: Unknown
ORIGINS NAME: Did not appear
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Did not appear
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Magicks

    Magicks was the term used during the golden age of Perseria, many centuries before Emperor Mateus' campaign of destruction, to describe the spells used by wizards and sorcerers. These powerful Magicks became the cause of the great war that plunged Perseria into chaos and culminated with Deumion becoming the Guardian of the Black Magic spell, Destroy. While traveling through the Arcane Labyrinth, Firion and his companions found an ancient stone tablet written by an explorer searching for the Land of Yore and speaking of the age of great Magicks.

GAME INFO
    This term is found on a stone tablet found in a treasure chest in a hidden waterfall cave in the "Jade Passage" level of the Arcane Labyrinth. A boss fight with Beelzebub ensues when the chest is opened.

NAME ORIGIN
    Magick is an archaic variation on the spelling of magic, and is now often associated with Wiccan beliefs or the occult. In the Final Fantasy series, magic is first referred to as "magicks" in Final Fantasy XII and subsequent installments in the Ivalice Alliance compilation.
