FINAL FANTASY I :: RACES
PRONUNCIATION: loo-FEE-nee-uhn
ORIGINAL JAPANESE NAME: ルフェインじん
NES NAME: Lefeinish
ORIGINS NAME: Lufenian
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Lufenian
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Lufenian
The Lufenians were a race of people living in the secluded northern town of Lufenia. They were descendents of the Sky People who constructed the Mirage Tower, the Flying Fortress, the Airship and the Automatons. They also entrusted many treasures deep within the Whisperwind Cove, but abandoned it for many centuries. They spoke the ancient language Lufenian, known only to their race and dressed in long, flowing white robes. Their civilization was destroyed four hundred years ago by the Fiend of Wind, Tiamat. She invaded and took control of the Flying Fortress where the Wind Crystal was stored and drained it of its power.
After the scholar Dr. Unne deciphered and taught their language to the Warriors of Light, the heroes were able to enter Lufenia and learn of the Lufenians' plight. The Warriors pledged to destroy Tiamat and, in turn, the Lufenians gave them the Chime necessary to enter the Mirage Tower and journey to Tiamat's perch high above the clouds in the Flying Fortress.
The Lufenians are only encountered in Lufenia and a lone Lufenian at the entrance to the Whisperwind Cove.
The origin of the names Lufenian and Lefeinish is unknown, if you have any information please contact the Webmaster.
