FINAL FANTASY I :: CHARACTERS

PRONUNCIATION: lingk
ORIGINAL JAPANESE NAME: リンク
NES NAME: Erdrick
ORIGINS NAME: Link (Erdrick in PAL version)
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Link
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Link

    Link was the name of an Elf who died some time before the Warriors of Light arrived in Elfheim. His tombstone was located in a small clearing next to the Level 3 White Magic shop.

GAME INFO
    Link's tombstone is found in Elfheim. He does not actually appear in the game.

ADDITIONAL INFO
    In the NES release, the tombstone reads "Here lies Erdrick. 837 - 866 R.I.P.", making Erdrick age 29 when he passed away. These dates do not appear on any further releases, and no dates are specified as to when the events of Final Fantasy occur.

NAME ORIGIN
    This tombstone is a subtle jab at other RPG's popular at the time of the original Final Fantasy's release. Link is the hero of the Legend of Zelda series and the hero of the Dragon Warrior series is a descendent of a hero named Erdrick.
