    The King of the Western Keep was actually the devilish Dark Elf Astos is disguise. He posed as the king of the ruined fortress in an attempt to trick the Warriors of Light into recovering the stolen Crown from the Marsh Cave and then revealed his true form to the heroes. They defeated him in battle and the Western Keep fell back into abandonment.

GAME INFO
    The King of the Western Keep resides in the throne room of the Western Keep. He transforms into Astos after acquiring the Crown from the Marsh Cave and bringing it to the Keep.

NAME ORIGIN
    A king is a male sovereign and chief authority over a country or people. The word comes from the Old English cyning. Western is a direction denoting something lyring toward or situated in the west. The word comes from the Old English word westerne. A keep is the innermost and strongest structure or central tower of a medieval castle. The word may come from a translation of the Italian tenazza meaning "that which keeps".
