    Josef's House was a large two-story home in the northeastern corner of the snowy mountain village of Salamand where Josef and his daughter, Nelly, lived. The home was decorated with fine rugs, the head of a multi-point buck hanging on the wall and a shelf filled with fine dishwear. After Josef's death, a woman in town who had admired Josef from afar moved into the home pledged to look after Nelly.

    Josef is the German, Scandinavian and Czech form of the name Joseph. Joseph derives from the Hebrew Yosef meaning "the Lord will increase or add". A house is a building in which people reside in. The word comes from the Old English word hus.
