NAME ORIGIN
Imperial denotes something relating to an emperor, in this case Emperor Mateus. A shadow is a dark figure or image cast on the ground or some surface by a body interceptin light. It can also mean a specter or ghost. The word comes from the Old English word sceaduwe.
In Final Fantasy Origins, this enemy was named Fallen Emperor. Fallen can mean something that is destroyed or perished. The word comes from the Lithuanian pùlti meaning "to fall". An emperor is a male sovereign or supreme ruler of an empire. The word comes from the Latin imperiator meaning "commander" and was originally a title conferred by vote of the Roman army on a successful general. The Roman Senate later voted to name Julius Caesar and his successors imperiator.
