An earthquake is a violent series of vibrations in the earth's crust caused by the abrupt release of stress along geologic faults or by volcanic activity. The word comes from the Old English eorthdyne.
In the original NES release, this attack was called Crack. A crack is a break without complete separation of the parts, in this sense a crack in the earth caused by an earthquake. The word comes from the Old English cracian.
