The Dragon Caves were a system of subterranean tunnels beneath the Cardian Islands and home to a peaceful race of Dragons ruled by Bahamut, the Dragon King. The caves were littered with gold and treasures that the Dragons had accumulated through their trade with the other northern civilizations. The Warriors of Light visited these caves and met with Bahamut, accepting his challenge to brave the Citadel of Trials.

GAME INFO
There are a total of 6 caves in the Dragon Caves, each with an entrance above on one of the Cardian Islands. The Hellfire Chasm is also located in the Cardian Islands, however it is not one of the Dragon Caves.

NAME ORIGIN
Dragons are popular throughout the folklore and mythologies of the world. The word dragon comes from the Greek word drakon, meaning a "serpent" or "seafish". A cave is a hollow opening in the earth. The word comes from the Latin word cavus meaning "hollow".
