NAME ORIGIN
A diamond is a crystalline form of carbon, renowned for its hardness and used as a gemstone and as a cutting tool. The word comes from the Latin word adamas, which is also the root of the word "adamant". A mace is a heavy war club used in the Middle Ages with a spiked or flanged metal head that was used to crush armor. The word comes from the Old French word masse which means "large mallet".
