NAME ORIGIN
A diamond is a crystalline form of carbon, renowned for its hardness and used as a gemstone and as a cutting tool. The word comes from the Latin word adamas, which is also the root of the word "adamant". An armlet is an ornamental band worn on the arm, such as a bracelet worn high on the arm rather than on the wrist. The word comes from the suffix -let added to arm, denoting a piece of jewelry or article of clothing worn on the arm.
In the original NES release, the Diamond Armlet was called the Opal Bracelet. Opal is a milky-white mineral used as a precious gemstone. The word comes from the Sanskrit upala-s meaning "precious stone". A bracelet is an ornamental band worn around the wrist. The word comes from the Latin word bracchium meaning "arm".
