NAME ORIGIN
Devil, in this sense, is another word for demon. The word "devil" originally comes from diabolos, a Greek word meaning "slanderer". A wolf is a canine predator of the genus Canis that typically hunts in a pack and preys on livestock and game animals. Wolves are native to the North American and Eurasian continents. The word comes from the Old English word wulf.
In Final Fantasy Origins, this enemy was named Fenrir. In Norse mythology, Fenrir, or Fenrisúlfr, was a monstrous wolf. He was the son of Loki and the giantess Angrboða. Fenrir was chained down by the magical ribbon Gleipnir until Ragnarök, when he will break loose and kill Odin, but will then in turn be slain by Odin's son, Víðarr. The name comes from Old Norse and means "fen-dweller".
