NAME ORIGIN
Death is the end of life, the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. The word comes from the Middle English word deeth. A tome is a very heavy, large or learned book. The word comes from the Greek tomos meaning "slice, piece, roll of paper, book" and derives from the word témnein meaning "to cut".
In Final Fantasy Origins, this item was called Doom Scroll. Doom is another word for ruin, death, or an unavoidable ill fortune. The word comes from the Old English dom meaning "judgment". In Origins, all the magical tomes were called scrolls. A scroll is a long roll of parchment, paper, papyrus or other material used especially for writing a document. The word comes from the Old French escroe meaning "strip of parchment".
