NAME ORIGIN
Death is the end of life, the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. The word comes from the Middle English word deeth.
In Final Fantasy Origins, this spell was called Reaper. Reaper refers to the Grim Reaper, a character of folklore and legend said to be the personification of death, often represented as a cloaked skeleton carrying a scythe. The word reaper comes from the Old English word ripere.
In the original NES release, this spell was called Rub. To "rub out" is an underworld slang term meaning "murder". The first use of this term in that way is recorded in 1848.
