NAME ORIGIN
Dark is a word used to denote the absence of light or to describe something as "evil". The word comes from the Old English deorc. A wizard is a person who practices magic. The word comes from the Middle English word wisard meaning "wise".
In the original NES release, this enemy was simply named Mage. Mage is an archaic term referring to a magician. The word is most famously known for the Three Magi who visited the infant Jesus in Bethlehem. The word comes from Old Persian magus meaning "sorcerer".
