The Cyclone was a monstrous whirlwind summoned by the evil Emperor Mateus to destroy the towns loyal to the Wild Rose Rebellion. While Firion, Maria, Guy and Ricard Highwind were recovering the Ultima Tome from the Mysidian Tower, the Cyclone ripped through the towns of Altair, Gatrea, Paloom and Poft, obliterating everything in its path. The heroes arrived at Castle Fynn just as the great twister was approaching. They deduced that the Emperor himself was controlling the Cyclone from a fortress suspended in its center. At Princess Hilda's suggestion, they decided to try and summon a Wyvern by way of Castle Fynn's Mirror Chamber.
Holding the Pendant Firion and his allies had recovered from Deist Cavern up to the glistening mirror, the image of the Wyvern Egg appeared and hatched before their eyes. The young Wyvern spread his wings and flew from the faraway island of Deist and arrived at Castle Fynn, uniting Ricard with a new dragon mount. The heroes climbed upon the young Wyvern and soared into the swirling winds of the Cyclone, to the immense fortress within.
Firion and his friends battled their way to the Cyclone's top floor where they found the Emperor's throne room, where he controlled the ravenous winds. The heroes stepped forward to challenge Mateus, who called squads of Royal Guards to stop them. They fought their way through the ranks, proving their strength to the Emperor, who decided that he would grant them a great honor by killing them himself. In a spirited battle, the heroes prevailed and slew Mateus in combat, sending his soul plummeting to Hell and ceasing the deadly winds of the Cyclone.

GAME INFO
The Cyclone is located north of Fynn after acquiring Ultima from the Mysidian Tower. It destroys the towns of Altair, Gatrea, Paloom and Poft, preventing them from being entered again. It can only be explored one time.

Treading carefully over the booby-trapped floors, they reached a hidden chamber with an old man inside. He was gracious to see them, telling them that the last time he talked to anyone was when he met with the chief in the Forest of Giants.
