NAME ORIGIN
To cure is to restore someone that is ill to health. The word comes from the Latin word cura. The addition of the suffix -ra to Cure denotes that this spell is the second level of the White Magic spell Cure. The -ra suffix is an invention of Square and can be seen in other second level spells such as Blizzara and Thundara.
In the original NES release, this spell's name was shortened to CUR2.
