NAME ORIGIN
A crocodile is a large, aquatic reptile of the genus Crocodylus. The name comes from the Greek word krokodilos, meaning "pebble worm" due to its sun-basking habits on pebble-strewn river banks.
In the original NES release, this enemy's name was Gator. Gator is a local term in the Southern United States for an alligator. Alligators, commonly confused with crocodiles, have brouder snouts and more dorsal eyes than crocodiles. The name comes from the Spanish el lagarto, meaning "the lizard".
