PRONUNCIATION: KRES-uhnt leyk
ORIGINAL JAPANESE NAME: クレセントレイクのまち
NES NAME: Crescent Lake
ORIGINS NAME: Crescent Lake
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Crescent Lake
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Crescent Lake

Crescent Lake was a small town nestled on a peninsula in the middle of a half-moon shaped lake just south-east of Mount Gulg. It was here that the prophet Lukahn journeyed to shortly before the arrival of the Warriors of Light to meet with his fellow sages. Crescent Lake was home to the Twelve Sages, and after the Warriors defeated the Lich, they revealed the true nature of the Four Fiends to the heroes and gave them the Canoe so that they could traverse the streams to reach Mount Gulg and stop Marilith, the Fiend of Fire. The Sages remained on hand to assist the Warriors of Light and give them advice along their quest.

GAME INFO
Crescent Lake can only be reached by Sea after Nerrick's canal is built, by way of the port to the north-east of the town.

NAME ORIGIN
Crescent Lake is named after the crescent-shaped lake that surrounds it. A crescent is a shape resembling a segment of a ring tapering to points at the ends. The moon is often seen in this shape, as the shadow of the earth covers areas of it from the sun. The word comes from the Old French word creistre meaning "to grow". A lake is a large body of water surrounded by land. The word comes from the Latin word lacus.
