    Cid was the name of the famous Lufenian inventor who built the Airship that the Warriors of Light later used it in their quest to restore the power of the Crystals.

GAME INFO
    Cid is never seen in the game, he is only mentioned by one of the Lufenians.

ADDITIONAL INFO
    With the insertion of Cid's name into Dawn of Souls and the Anniversary Edition, a character named Cid now appears in all of the main Final Fantasy games.

NAME ORIGIN
    Cid is a reference to the Spanish soldier and hero Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, commonly known as "El Cid Campeador", which comes from the Arabic al-sayyid which means "lord" and the Spanish el campeador which translates to "champion". Living from around 1040-1099, he was a famous hero in the wars against the Moors before becoming a renowned mercenary and capturing the Spanish city of Valencia.
    Cid is found in every Final Fantasy game, usually in an inventor/pilot role.
