ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Cave of Mysidia

The Cave of Mysidia was located east of the city of mages, Mysidia, in the middle of a circular mountain range. It was here that the Crystal Rod was kept, in order to restrict entrance to the Mysidian Tower in the Sea to the north. The Doppelganger stood at the Cave's entrance, raised by the acquisition of the White Mask from the dungeons of Castle Fynn by Firion and his allies. The Doppelganger stopped anyone from venturing lower into the Cave until Firion placed the Black Mask from the Tropical Island on its face. Sensing the purity in Firion's heart, the Doppelganger vanished and the heroes treaded through the murky cavern to reach the treasure chest containing the Crystal Rod. With the Crystal Rod, the heroes sailed to the Mysidian Tower but were trapped in a whirlpool and swallowed whole by the Tower's fearsome guardian, the great sea serpent Leviathan.
