ORIGINS NAME: Castle Fynn
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Castle Fynn
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Castle Fynn

Castle Fynn was the home of the royal family of the kingdom of Fynn. It was from here that the King of Fynn ruled over his land. The Castle's Mirror Chamber allowed contact between the kingdom of Fynn and the mighty Dragoons of Deist. After the evil Palamecian Empire invaded, the castle was placed under the control of the demon Gottos. Its halls swarmed with infernal beasts and the castle was sealed off from all trespassers.
After Princess Hilda was rescued from the Coliseum by Firion and his allies, the Wild Rose Rebellion launched an attack to reclaim the kingdom. While the Rebel army held the bulk of the Imperial forces at bay, Firion, Maria, Guy and Leila snuck into the Castle and defeated Gottos. With the Empire banished from Fynn, Princess Hilda and Prince Gordon took up the throne to lead the Rebellion from Castle Fynn. They decided that to truly defeat the Empire, they would need to utilize the powerful spell, Ultima, which had been locked away in the Mysidian Tower. In order to enter the Tower, the heroes needed to recover the White Mask, the Black Mask and the legendary Crystal Rod. The White Mask was kept in the dungeons beneath Castle Fynn, which were only accessed by speaking the incantation Ekmet Teloess to open a secret passage. The heroes battled the monsters in the dungeon and found the White Mask, taking it to Mysidia to continue on their quest.

GAME INFO
Castle Fynn is located just outside the kingdom of Fynn. It isn't accessible until Princess Hilda is rescued from the Coliseum. The enemies in the castle's upper floors are only encountered before fighting Gottos. After he is defeated, the enemies disappear.

ADDITIONAL INFO
The Blood Sword found in a treasure chest on B4 of Castle Fynn in the original NES version and Final Fantasy Origins was replaced with a Power Staff in Dawn of Souls and the 20th Anniversary Edition.

NAME ORIGIN
A castle is a fortified residence used by nobility in feudal times. The word comes from the Latin word castellum meaning "a fortified settlement". The use of Fynn after Castle is common in naming practices outside of English, such as in French and Spanish, where the adjectives appear after the noun.
