NAME ORIGIN
Breaking is the act of smashing or splitting an object violently. The word comes from the Old English word brecan. What this has to do with turning someone to stone might just be an invention of Square. If anyone has any information, please feel free to contact the Webmaster. A tome is a very heavy, large or learned book. The word comes from the Greek tomos meaning "slice, piece, roll of paper, book" and derives from the word témnein meaning "to cut".
In Final Fantasy Origins, all the magical tomes were called scrolls. A scroll is a long roll of parchment, paper, papyrus or other material used especially for writing a document. The word comes from the Old French escroe meaning "strip of parchment".
