NAME ORIGIN
The Blue Dragon's name comes from the fact that it is a blue-scaled dragon, and blue is significant as being representative of the Lightning element. This color/element system originated in the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. Dragons are popular throughout the folklore and mythologies of the world. The word dragon comes from the Greek word drakon, meaning a "serpent" or "seafish".
In the original NES release, this enemy's name was abbreviated to Blue D because of the character limit on enemy names.
