NAME ORIGIN
A basilisk is a creature found in classical mythology, a serpent or lizard with the ability to kill with its breath or glance. There is also a tropical American lizard named the basilisk. The name comes from the Greek word basilískos meaning "little king", so named because of a small crest resembling a crown atop the basilisk's head.
In the original NES release, the name of this monster was Sauria. Sauria is the name given to the group of reptiles which includes true lizards, such as chameleons and geckos. It comes from the Greek word for "lizard", sauros.
