NAME ORIGIN
A barrier is anything that bars passage, such as a railing, fence or other obstacle. The word comes from the Vulgar Latin barraria meaning "bar". A tome is a very heavy, large or learned book. The word comes from the Greek tomos meaning "slice, piece, roll of paper, book" and derives from the word témnein meaning "to cut".
In Final Fantasy Origins, all the magical tomes were called scrolls. A scroll is a long roll of parchment, paper, papyrus or other material used especially for writing a document. The word comes from the Old French escroe meaning "strip of parchment".
