ORIGINAL JAPANESE NAME: アストス
NES NAME: ASTOS
ORIGINS NAME: Astos
DAWN OF SOULS NAME: Astos
ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Astos

Astos was the nefarious king of the Dark Elves. Five years before the Warriors of Light arrived, Astos attacked Elfheim, placing a curse on the Elf Prince and carting away with the Elven Castle's treasure. He also stole Matoya's Crystal Eye to prevent the witch from brewing a potion to awaken the sleeping Prince. He then hid away in the Western Keep.
When the Warriors of Light came to the Keep, Astos posed as a lowly King begging them to retrieve the missing Crown from the swampy depths of the Marsh Cave to restore his ruined castle. The Warriors brought back the Crown, but at that moment Astos revealed his true form and attacked them. The Warriors of Light valiantly defeated him, and returned the stolen Crystal Eye to Matoya, who concocted the Jolt Tonic to wake the cursed Prince.
Astos' ghost again threatened the Warriors of Light in the Whisperwind Cove, but they finally silenced him once and for all.
