ANNIVERSARY EDITION NAME: Arcane Sanctuary High Altar

The Arcane Sanctuary High Altar was located ten floors below the entrance to the Arcane Sanctuary. It was here that the Guardian of the Sanctuary, Deumion, was found. The High Altar could only be accessed after lighting the flames atop the three daises found in the Sanctuary's entrance hall by completing the challenges of the three Arcane Labyrinths. Firion and his friends journeyed to the High Altar during their quest to defeat the evil Palamecian Empire. Deumion urged the heroes to turn back, but decided to judge their worthiness by summoning the monstrous beast, Phrekyos. After Firion and his allies slew the beast, Deumion asked them what it is that they seek. Using the magical key words that permitted them to journey through the Arcane Labyrinths, the heroes were rewarded with incredibly powerful weapons by the Guardian. Deumion's true purpose as Guardian, however, was to defend the world's most destructive Black Magic spell, Destroy, which was held in the Arcane Sanctuary's Gallery. Deumion swore to protect this deadly spell from falling into the wrong hands. Deumion also held the most powerful White Magic spell, Revive, which the heroes were awarded with by giving back the Light of Hope, which Deumion had left behind as a young man in Perseria before he became Guardian.
