The Arcane Labyrinths were a peculiar series of dungeons sealed by mysterious words. There were three Labyrinths scattered around the world: the Northeast Quarter located east of Salamand, the Northwest Quarter located north of Bafsk and the Southern Keep in the south of Kashuan. Firion and his friends explored these magical Labyrinths during their quest to destroy the evil Palamecian Empire. They uttered the key words they discovered throughout their journey to the mysterious light found in each Labyrinth. These words belonged to four distinct groups: life and nature, matter and materials, magic and spirits and finally, locations. The word chosen altered the composition of the next floor. In each Labyrinth, mages studied and analyzed the mysterious seals and helped to suggest favorable words for Firion and his companions. After breaking all the seals, and reaching the end of each Labyrinth, the heroes were confronted by a monstrous beast. Defeating each of these creatures lit flames on the three daises found in the central chamber of the Arcane Sanctuary, located at the confluence of the three Labyrinths.

GAME INFO
The three Arcane Labyrinths each contain a different number of dungeons that must be completed and a boss battle. The Northwest Quarter contains four dungeons and a battle against Tiamat, the Northeast Quarter contains eight dungeons and a battle against Beelzebub and the Southern Keep contains twelve dungeons and a battle against a Black Dragon. The words chosen in each dungeon affect which weapon is received from Deumion after defeating Phrekyos in the Arcane Sanctuary. NAME ORIGIN
Arcane means something that is known or understood by very few, something is secret, obscure, mysterious or esoteric. The word comes from the Latin word arcanus meaning "secret". A labyrinth is an intricate combination of paths or passages in which it is difficult to find one's way or to reach the exit. The original Labyrinth was a vast maze built on the island of Crete to house the monstrous Minotaur. The word is perhaps related to the Lydian labrys meaning "double-headed axe", a symbol of royal power, and the original Labyrinth may mean "palace of the double-headed axe".
